At the moment the cost of living rise is on everyone’s mind, add to that the long six weeks of summer holidays and it’s no wonder parents are feeling stressed and in danger of putting themselves into debt.
At Adcroft Hilton, many of us have little ones and we understand how expensive the summer holidays can be and how hard it can be to keep them entertained. These days it seems as though everything the kids want to do comes with a hefty price tags from entry fees to eating out, it can cut into even the best of summer budgets.
However, there’s a lot to be said for taking a step back into the times we remember from out own childhood and to the simpler pleasures.
With that in mind we have come up with 10 ideas of free or cheap days out in our local area.
- Look for events at your local library as they will often have craft days or reading groups aimed at children
- Stanley Park – our local beautiful park where you can feed the ducks and have a play on the park – take a picnic too to save on buying lunch out
- A walk down Blackpool Seafront and going on the 3 piers. Blackpool always has something fun going on to keep you entertained
- Get rid of all the copper you have collected and go to one of Blackpool’s arcades and go on the 2p machines
- Go to Penny Farm and meet the horses
- Take a trip to Ribby Hall and have a play on their parks, have a go on their zipline and take a walk through their woodland trail
- Take a picnic and go to Park View in Lytham – there is so much to do there, you can also let the children make the picnic or even home bake something to take with you.
- Enjoy the splash park at St Annes or Fleetwood
- Spend a day at the beach building sandcastles
- Take a walk round the Devere and see if you can hear or spot any animals from the zoo
However you spend your summer, please stay safe and enjoy your time. Remember, it’s not always about how much money you spend, but how many memories you make.
